APPROACH

AFL is renowned for its unique language training approach based on the Simultaneous Multisensory Teaching (SMT) method. This proven method promotes natural learning through language acquisition activities. It helps clients acquire a second language accurately, promotes client's mastery of the symbols and sounds of the target language and increases client's awareness of the rules behind spoken and written expressions.

The first step in our approach is to conduct a preliminary assessment of the client's skills and abilities. This free evaluation allows our language training specialists to identify the client's learning needs. The assessment results are detailed in a report which is then discussed with the client.

The second step is to develop a customized training program to meet the specific needs of each client be they beginner, intermediate or advanced. Classes are conducted on a one-to-one basis, semi-private (two students), in small (three to four students) or large group (five to eight students). Ongoing evaluation reports track client progress and illustrate the program's effectiveness.

AFL offers a variety of Programs and Services options.

PERSONNEL

Our teachers understand the complexities of learning a second language and work with clients to set and achieve learning goals.

Our language specialists use language training tasks such as practicing real-time conversation, improving spontaneous speech use, and confidence building activities in the target language. These activities are structured to identify and revise problem areas in the client's syntactic structures, pronunciation, vocabulary and comprehension.

AFL has four trained pedagogical advisors responsible to:

  • Maintain and or upgrade teaching programs and or design new ones;

  • Ensure the introduction and application of state of the art adult teaching methods;

  • Conduct the preliminary assessment of clients;

  • Advise and support teachers in developing and delivering individual teaching programs;

  • Assist and advise clients on request with particular learning difficulties.

In addition, AFL team includes upward of seventy experienced teachers. Their responsibilities are:

  • Develop training plans customized to the needs of clients;

  • Conduct language training according to established plans and schedules;

  • Conduct regular assessment of the student’s progress;
